Men's MinistryThe foundation of our men's ministry at Ore Creek is in our weekly men's group gatherings. During these times there's a time to share about our lives, pray for each other and be an encouragement. These groups meet at various times during the week from early morning to later in the evening. Please
contact us if you are interesting in joining a group! There are also various events throughout the year which will be posted on our calendar when information becomes available.
As part of our focus of being a place " Where Rich Relationships Matter", we value small groups and the role they play in deepening our walks with Christ and building relationships with other people in the community. Our small groups are intended to be casual, but also a place for sharing and closeness with other believers. If you are interested in being part of a small group we would love to find a place for you to plug in. Please feel free to
contact us here for more information.

KID'S MINISTRY At Ore Creek, discipling kids’ is at the core of our mission. While parents need to be the primary faith-teachers of their children, we love partnering with parents in this most-important role. Our kids’ program serves kids from birth to 5th grade. Programs for all ages are offered during the Sunday service. Whether in the nursery, preschool class, or elementary program, your kids will be learning about God’s love for them through song, play, reading God’s word, and age-appropriate teaching from carefully chosen, caring volunteers. We know your child’s safety is important to you. It’s important to us, too. We work hard to provide a safe and secure environment that you can feel comfortable leaving your child in while you attend the main service.Have a special need where your child is concerned? We want to help. Please let us know what it is and we will do whatever we can to meet your child’s special needs.

And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

ORE CREEK MISSION STATEMENT To lead lost people into new life in Christ, and lovingly develop them into fully devoted followers of Christ. ORE CREEK VALUES Grace – We believe that the Christian life begins and continues by grace through faith in Christ alone. Therefore, our appreciation of this most marvelous truth of God’s love and grace is the best motivator for following Christ obediently. (Galatians 3:1-3/Ephesians 2:8-9) Bible – We believe that the Bible is true, our ultimate authority, culturally relevant for life today, and an essential catalyst for significant change in our lives. Therefore, it is imperative that we learn to feed ourselves with it on a regular basis, and honestly wrestle with it as we teach others to follow Christ in every area of life. (Matthew 4:4/2 Timothy 3:16) Prayer – We believe that God invites His people to pray in order to enjoy Him and to hear His voice of affirmation and direction. We believe that God hears and answers our prayers according to His will. Therefore, prayer is the foundation upon which the lives and ministry of our church must be built. (Colossians 4:2/ 1 Thessalonians 5:17) Relationship – We believe that life-change happens best in the context of rich, others-centered relationships. Nothing reveals better the quality of our relationship with the Lord than the quality of what we offer in our human relationships. Therefore, in order to love well, we need to be in deep authentic relationships. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3/Galatians 5:13-14) Outreach – We believe that those without a personal relationship with Christ matter to God. Because God values every person, we all should be involved both locally and globally in His purpose of bringing individuals into a living and hopeful relationship with Him. Therefore, we are to develop creative and free environments and loving relationships where individuals can puzzle over, ponder, and pursue God. This requires a willingness to sacrifice our consumer mentality of selfishness with our time, energy, and resources. (Luke 15/Colossians 4:5-6) People – We believe that every believer should be intentionally serving, ministering, and courageously risking involvement in others’ lives as Jesus did. God has designed His church to grow and function on the basis of spiritual gifts. Therefore, we desire to encourage and equip all Christ followers to discover, develop, and use their spiritual gifts through the Spirit’s empowerment and direction. (Ephesians 4:11-16/1 Peter 4:10-11) Authenticity – We believe that God desires us to be honest and transparent in our relationship with Him and each other; which results in passionate, real worship, and ministry that entices people to follow Christ more fully. (Job/The Psalms) Maturity – We believe that the goal and normal lifestyle for every believer should be full devotion and continuous growth in Christ-likeness. Therefore, salvation is but the first step on the road to spiritual maturity that should result in believers reproducing themselves in others for His kingdom’s agenda. (Philippians 2:12-13/2 Timothy 2:1-2) Stewardship – We believe that everything was created by God and is owned by God. Likewise, our material possessions are from and belong to God. When God chooses to bless us with money, possessions, success, free time, etc., our appropriate response is to offer these blessings back to God for His glory and service. We believe that, as followers of Jesus, we should be giving back to Him a minimum of 10% (a tithe) of our incomes. We do this not because God or Ore Creek Community Church need our money, nor out of guilt; but rather, we give because God gave to us. (Matthew 6:21/Acts 20:35) Worship – We believe that we are to honor God with passionate praise and worship through our daily lives of devotion and growth. Therefore, we worship by giving all that we have to God, every day of the week, for His glory. (Psalm 100/Romans 11:33-36)

is a resident of Howell Michigan. He has lived in Michigan for the past 15 years with his wife Marie and three daughters Joy, Hope and Grace. David was raised in a Christian home, making the decision to follow Christ at the early age of eight. He attended Liberty Baptist College (now Liberty University) and Grand Rapids Baptist College (now Cornerstone University) to prepare for a future career in church ministry. He is currently the Executive Director of Wildwood Ranch, a summer camp and youth development ministry owned and operated by the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. “My dream for OC3 is that we create an environment that is a launching pad enabling, equipping and empowering people to meet the needs in the lives of those around us. We should be Christ’s hands and feet (and all the other many instruments of healing) in our families, our communities, our work places and finally our times of worship.

Don B. Tanner is a resident of Brighton MI. and owner of Don B. Tanner, Inc., a medical consulting company; and Planetrehab, Inc., a medical software company. Don has lived in Michigan for the past 15 years with his wife Jeanne, and two daughters Suzannah, and Lisa. Don and his family came to OC3 from Grace Countryside Church in the summer of 2001. Don placed his faith in Christ after the death of his first born daughter. "I was moved on a path to consider my own life, purpose, and finally eternal destiny, personally, through this trial." From the example of the Christian love and hope of his father-in-law, and God's call on his life, Don trusted in Christ's life, death, burial, and resurrection for his own new life and rebirth. "I could finally have hope that this was not all there was to life, I could now live in anticipation that the best is yet to come. This was a whole new way of looking at life for me." My dream for OC3 is that we would be a congregation that lives as an example of Christ's love and hope in our personal relationships and profess that he is our our light, our hope and our joy. We will boldly proclaim we are nothing, and have nothing of any lasting value except him.

is a resident of Highland, Michigan. He was born and raised in the heart of the Copper Country on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. He moved to the Gulf Coast of Florida at the age of 15 and lived there for ten years. His wife Sally is from Waterford, Michigan. God brought them together in a college algebra class in Florida and they married in 1988. They settled into their house in Highland and their son Andy was born in 1990. Kevin is employed by Huron Valley Schools. He serves on the Board of Directors at Huron Valley Youth Assistance. Kevin attended church and Sunday school classes through his elementary and middle school years, but fell away during high school. As a teenager of the 70’s, he became entrenched in the rebellious ways of the times and turned his back on God when life became difficult. Several years into his marriage, Kevin began to examine his life and realized that he couldn’t make life work on his own. He began searching for meaning and purpose through research and counseling. He and his family began visiting area churches in the late 90’s and immediately found comfort in the way people related with them at Ore Creek. Through faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of God’s redeeming grace, Kevin has been on a transformational journey that has made it clear how God uses our experiences for good and how His Spirit guides us along the often difficult path of life. Kevin dreams of seeing the body of believers at Ore Creek continue to grow closer to God and each other in a way that entices newcomers, neighbors, co-workers, friends, and relatives to join in fellowship and worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He hopes to see a church that naturally lives as they were designed to live, not out of duty or obligation, but out of love and thankfulness to our God who gives us grace and peace beyond all understanding.

He is a graduate of Bryan College in Tennessee and Dallas Theological Seminary. David was Pastor of Discipleship at Grace Countryside Church in White Lake, Michigan, for 10 years. David and his wife, Kathy, have 3 children.
The Purpose Of Our Church The Church exists to glorify and honor God by introducing people to a vital, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and by helping them to develop into mature representatives of Christ in society. This purpose may be summed up in the three-fold function of exaltation, edification, and evangelism. EXALTATION - The Church Existing for Christ Worship is the sincere response of adoration, fear, and obedience that believers give to God for what He has done. The purpose of the church begins with the recognition that we do not belong to ourselves but to the Lord who purchased us with His own blood. Thus, worship is to be the lifestyle of each individual Christian and the focus of the corporate gatherings of the church. Since the Lord is enthroned with majesty and endued with all authority, we should seek in all things to serve Him with our time, treasures, and talents, to follow His will revealed in the Bible, and to honor His name. (John 4.23-24; 1 Peter 1.18-19; Philippians 2.8-10; 1 Corinthians 6.19; Psalm 99.5-9; Isaiah 57.15) EDIFICATION - The Church Existing for Itself The result of the gospel and a central purpose for the church's existence is the life-transformation of each of its members. To this end, God calls believers into mutually accountable relationships in which they can encourage one another to live holy lives and to serve the Lord. This requires the responsibility of the leadership to provide practical Bible teaching and training in discipleship and personal evangelism. It also requires the responsibility of each uniquely gifted member of the body to exercise his or her spiritual gifts and natural abilities for the building up of the body and the bearing of one another's burdens. (Ephesians 4.11-13; Hebrews 10.24-25; 2 Timothy 4.2-4; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 6.1-2) EVANGELISM -The Church Existing for the World We accept the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ as a priority of the church collectively and of each believer individually. It is our desire to share as widely and effectively as possible the good news of God's love and forgiveness in Christ. Every believer is unique in his or her personality, abilities, and vocation, and within that context they are to be witnesses by word and deed to the Lord Jesus Christ. The proclamation of the gospel should be motivated by genuine concern and love for all and for the whole person. (Matthew 28.18-20; Acts 1.8; Colossians 4.3-6; Matthew 5.13-16)

THE BIBLE The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Bible in it's entirety originated with God and that it was given through the instrumentality of chosen men. We hold the Scriptures to be infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters on which they bear, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. (Psalm 119.89; Isaiah 40.8; Matthew 5.18; 2 Timothy 3.16-17; 2 Peter 1.20-21) GOD We believe in one True God, eternally existing in three Persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and elements of personality. (Deuteronomy 6.4; Matthew 28.18-20; 2 Corinthians 13.14) God the Father We believe that in the beginning God Father created out of nothing the universe and all it contains, thus manifesting the glory of His power, wisdom, and goodness. By His sovereign power He continues to sustain His creation. By His providence He is both active in the daily life of every Christian and He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes. (Genesis 1.1; Isaiah 46.10; Ephesians 1.11-19; Hebrews 1.1-4) God the Son We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal second Person of the Trinity, Who was united forever with a true human nature by a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a sinless life, performed signs and miracles, and died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for human sin. By His death as a substitute for sinners, He infinitely satisfied divine justice and accomplished salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He was raised from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is Head of the church and intercedes for believers. He shall return again to earth, personally, visibly, and bodily, to receive His Kingdom and to consummate the eternal plan of God. (Matthew 3.17; John 1.1,14; Luke 1.30-35; Romans 3.24-25; 2 Corinthians 5.21; 1 Corinthians 15.1-4; Romans 8.34; Acts 1.10-11; Hebrews 9.23-28) God the Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is the eternal third Person of the Trinity. He was sent by the Father and the Son into the world to apply to humanity the saving work of Christ. He enlightens the mind of sinners, and convicts them of their need for a Savior. He regenerates them and at the point of salvation permanently indwells every believer whom He also seals for the day of redemption. He guides, instructs empowers and gives gifts to believers for godly living and service in the body of Christ. (Matthew 28.19-20; John 14.16-26; John 16.7-15; John 3.5-8; Romans 8.9; 1 Corinthians 12.11; Galatians 5.22-23) HUMANITY We believe that the first humans, Adam and Eve, were originally created in the image of God, holy and upright for the purpose of glorifying and enjoying God in unbroken fellowship. However, at the beginning of human history, they defied God by breaking the express command given to Adam in the Garden of Eden. By this transgression, they were alienated from God, lost all spiritual life, and suffered the corruption of their nature, rendering them unable to please God and liable to eternal punishment. The sin of the first humans, since they are the parents of the whole race, is imputed to all their descendants. As a result all individuals born since suffer these same consequences, are fallen, sinful, and lost, and are thus in need of the saving grace of God. (Genesis 3.1-9; Romans 3.10-20,23; 5.12-21; Ephesians 2.1-3) SALVATION We believe that God, out of love for the human race, sent Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners. Salvation is wholly a work of God's free grace. It is not the result of any human works, ordinances, or church membership, and is personally received through faith and in the finished work of Christ. Any person who, in simple faith, trusts in Jesus Christ alone and in what He accomplished on the cross, refusing to trust in anything else, receives the gift of eternal life, which, once granted, can never be lost. The assurance of eternal salvation rests solely on the promise God makes in His word that everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ alone possesses eternal life. (1 Timothy 1.15; Romans 3.21-25; 1 Corinthians 1.18; Romans 13.11; Ephesians 2.1-10; Titus 3.3-7; John 5.24; John 10.27-30; Romans 8.38-39; John 3.16) SANCTIFICATION We believe that it is the obligation of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity and holiness through obedience to the Word of God by the power of the indwelling Spirit. Due to the power of remaining sin in the believer, progress to maturity is not automatic. A Christian can, through sin, lose his fellowship, joy, power, testimony and reward, and incur the Father's discipline. The relationship of the believer with the Lord is eternal, being established by the new birth; fellowship, however is dependent upon obedience to the Word of God. The indwelling holy Spirit is the available source of power, comfort, and teaching for all believers. His power and control are appropriated by faith, making it possible for the believer to live a life of Christ like character and to bear fruit to the glory of the Father. (1 Thessalonians, 4.3; 1 Corinthians 2.10-16; Galatians 5.15-26; Ephesians 5.18; Colossians 3.16; John 15.8; 1 John 1.5-2.2) THE CHURCH We believe that there is one true and universal church, made up of all those who in every place acknowledge Jesus Christ as their only Savior. The Word of God commands believers to gather together in local, autonomous congregations to devote themselves to worship, prayer, the teaching of the Bible, the maintenance of holy lives, the observation of the ordinances of water baptism and Communion, the edification of the body through the development and use of gifts and talents, and an active ministry to an unsaved world. A local expression of the church is found wherever Christians meet regularly in obedience to these commands. Under the spiritual oversight of Elders and the supportive leadership of Deacons, members of the body of Christ are to work together in love, maintaining unity of spirit and intent on one purpose—to glorify Christ. (1 Corinthians 1.2; 12.12-14; Ephesians 1.22-23; Acts 2.42-47; 1 Timothy 3.1-13; Ephesians 4.11-16) HUMAN DESTINY We believe that for all humankind there is a life to come, a resurrection of the body, and a future judgment. At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord, and the unbeliever into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord. The bodies of all the dead shall be raised; some to a resurrection of glory, some to a resurrection of condemnation. There are two aspects of the righteous judgment of God: 1. The final judgment of all humankind at the Great White throne of God, revealing the depth of sin and the fairness of divine justice in consigning unbelievers to continue their own rejection of God in eternal punishment, and, 2. The judgment of believers at the judgment seat of Christ, revealing the quantity and quality of works done in the body, not with reference to salvation, but for the purpose of bestowing rewards in His Kingdom. (John 5.28-29; Luke 16.19-31; 2 Corinthians 5.8; 1 Thessalonians 1.6-10; Revelation 20.11-15: 1 Corinthians 3.11-15; 2 Corinthians 5.10) * We believe that this Statement of Faith represents an adequate and accurate summary of what Scripture teaches on these matters. All members shall refrain from advocating doctrines that are not included in the Statement of Faith in such a way as to cause divisions. The Bible references listed here are to illustrate biblical themes. They are not intended to be used as isolated proof-texts, nor are they the only passages which deal with these objects.

Welcome to the new Ore Creek Community Church WebsiteYou'll notice lots of changes to the way the website works and the way to find information. Here are two major changes besides the layout/design. First, there is a built in media player. You'll see on the bottom of this page a place to click and listen to last week's message. It will open up in a new window and begin playing immediately. If you click on the Media / Media Player link on the top of the page it will bring you to the media player as well, but you can scroll through and select which sermon to listen to or choose to download it to play on an mp3 player. Sometimes there will even be sermon outline notes listed too! We hope this will be helpful!Second, there are detailed calendars available to view. You can either go to the Event / Calendar links at the top of the page, which takes you to a built in web-calendar to view events by date with a complete description and directions. You may also see the calendar in a monthly view format by clicking on the calendar icon in the lower right hand corner of the page. This will take you to a basic calendar where you can see everything that is happening a month at a time. There are three other links on the bottom right. One takes you to an online Bible with Bible study tools, another to a movie review website run by Focus on the Family to allow you to find out detailed content in recent and upcoming movies. The last one is to our
photo gallery with pictures of recent events. We hope they will be of use to you. Please let us know if you have any feedback, or if there is something you would like to see on the website! Thank you!
